slow Living Home Reset + New Start the DAy Meditation
Do you ever wake up and you just can’t? Can’t jump into action mode. Can’t get your life together. Can’t think about the endless list of things you should be doing without wanting to jump into a nearby river and let it carry you away. I had one of these days recently, so I stopped myself early to sit and have a little check in with my inner self. Turns out, I was overwhelmed and a bit burned out and I needed a break.
I can’t emphasize enough how essential it is to cultivate a relationship with yourself where you are able to find comfort in sitting alone, embracing some quiet, and feeling into your intuition and your body. Many of us are so used to waking up and just plowing through our day, floundering, in survival or production mode, grabbing food on the go, and collapsing in front of a TV at the end of the day. I’ve been there and I get it, but that’s where growth comes in. At some point, if you are inclined towards self reflection as I am, you will reach a wall and you will decide that you have to make a change. It doesn’t have to be huge, it can be as simple as just taking five minutes in the morning to check in with yourself and ask what you need that day. What would support you best that day? What could you do that would be more aligned today? I like to visualize myself having a good day, and I allow my mind to fill in the blanks of what that might look like. It’s brought me to the realization that every day doesn’t have to look the same for me because I have different needs and different inspiration and different levels of energy and wellness on any given day. And that’s okay.
This week I made a vlog for YouTube about what I chose to do on one of those days when I woke up and just couldn’t. Instead of forcing productivity I allowed myself to embrace the simplicity of doing a simple home reset. And I have to say, it turned out to be such a good day. I’m happy to share it with you, along with the Start the Day Guided Meditation I wrote and recorded after putting the vlog together. I love recording affirmations and meditations, both for myself and for my voice-over clients. I recommend you try doing this 8-minute guided meditation first thing in the morning to give your inner self a chance to let you know what a supportive and aligned day might look like for you. Enjoy and be sure to follow me my channel, Cry to Dream Again, on YouTube for more like this.
